poverty vs materialistic

i was just complaining to dad the other day tht my allowance oughtta be INCREASED !
and he said he'll be observing how i behave for the following days before he decides.
so i've been a good good gal:)))
and im a wealthier and happier gal ytd.

however, ashamed was wad i felt after viewing oprah's show td.
30 millions of full time working americans are living in poverty.
they are working citizens mind you.
there's this lady who only earns $6.50/hr for a full time job leaving her with $30/mth for food.
i seriously cant comprehend this.
compared to us, how lucky can we get? and here i am complaining tht i wasnt getting enough.
my previous allowance alone is more than enough to feed that lady's family, just my allowance not mentioning the extras my mum, dad and sis gives me.
and yet i asked for more :(((
im giving back!
living within my means is wad i learned.
